Angular correlation function as a detector for two-step processes

  • 1. Physical Research Institute, Leningrad State University, Leningrad, Union of Soviet Socialist Republics

Description

The reaction 12C(6Li,6Li')12C*(6Li,d)16(α)12C proceeding via the quasibound 42+ (E/sup */ = 11.09 MeV) state of /sup 16/O has been suggested to proceed via a two-step process. We reinvestigate this case. Computing the angular correlation function W(Ω/sub d/,Ω/sub α/) it is confirmed that the previous suggestions are indeed correct. Furthermore, our results indicate that the comparison of calculated W(Ω/sub d/,Ω/sub α/) with experimental phase shifts may be used as a detector for two-step processes
