Characteristics of the Wolf-Rayet star in the eclipsing system CQ Cep

  • 1. P. K. Shternberg State Astronomical Institute

Description

The angle of inclination of the orbit (i = 650 +- 10) is found from an analysis of light curves of the system CQ Cep (WN 7+07, Vapprox. =8/sup m/.9, papprox. =1/sup d/.641) in U, V, and R filters. The parameter L3, characterizing the relative luminosity of the ''uneclipsed'' common envelope in the CQ Cep system, is determined: L3(U)approx. =0; L3(V) = 0.10; L3(R) = 0.29. The radius of the core of the WN 7 star is obtained, r0 = (11 +- 1)R/sub sun/. The brightness and color temperatures (T/sub b/ and T/sub c/) of the core are found: T/sub b/> or approx. =50 000 0K, T/sub c/roughly-equal50 000 0K. The mass of the WN 7 star is approx.31 M/sub sun/. On the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram the core of the WN 7 star occupies a position intermediate between the main sequence and the sequence of homogeneous helium stars
