Theory on nonrenewable resources and petroleum rent

  • 1. Paris-2 Univ., 75 (France)
  • 2. Bergen Univ. (Norway)

Description

The author analyses mining rent concept with the help of the economical nonrenewable resources theory. This analysis is studied under different market structures. To measure world-wide scale petroleum rent, a simultaneous equilibria equations model is proposed. Several petroleum products markets are studied. This model allows to delimit the importance of the world-wide petroleum rent and estimate the importance of different rent types: rarity rent, quality rent, fertility rent, position rent. 196 refs., 38 figs., 11 tabs
