An overview is presented of the experimental and analytical works on disruptions, which were carried on in the tokamak ASDEX Upgrade in the last few years. The identification of the technical and physical causes, the methods of predicting and mitigating disruptions, and the analysis of the loading scenarios are some of the aspects of the problem treated
