Fuel performance issues in thermal reactors
Description
The paper will review the historical developments and issues that were tackled during the last five decades related to thermal reactor fuel performance. It will also refer to the issues that need to be addressed as we move on to (i) ever increasing high burn-up, (ii) longer re-load cycle, (iii) introduction of MOX fuel on larger scale, (iv) fuel cycle economics and (v) fuel behaviour under severe accidents etc
