Improved detector for a scintillation camera
Description
A scintillation camera for radioisotope imaging is presented. It consists of: a laminar scintillation crystal, an array of photodetectors in optical communication with scintillation crystal for generating electrical signals providing position information with regard to scintillations occurring in scintillation crystal in response to incident gamma radiation, a transparent light conducting element interposed between scintillation crystal and array of photodetectors, electrical circuitry connected to photodetectors for receiving the electrical signals from photodetectors and for producing composite image signals, and an image representation means for receiving image signals. The scintillation camera comprises a laminar moisture-impermeable barrier less than one quarter inch in thickness interposed between scintillation crystal and light conducting element

On presente une camera a scintillation destinee a former une image d'une distribution de radioisotope. Elle comprend: un cristal scintillateur en forme de lame; un reseau de photodetecteurs en communication optique avec le cristal scintillateur de facon a engendrer des signaux electriques fournissant une information de position concernant les scintillations qui se produisent dans le cristal scintillateur sous l'effet des rayons gamma incidents; un element conducteur de la lumiere transparent intercale entre le cristal scintillateur et le reseau de photodetecteurs; un circuit electrique connecte aux photodetecteurs de facon a recevoir les signaux electriques produits par les photodetecteurs et a engendrer des signaux composites d'image; et un dispositif de visualisation destine a recevoir les signaux d'image et a les representer.
