Description

Thermoluminescence (TL) is widely used in radiation dosimetry and various TL materials such as α-Al2O3:C, CaSO4:Dy and BeO are highly sensitive and useful in dosimetry applications. In addition to this, TL is a well established tool in the study of properties of defects. The emission of light during heating from previously exposed phosphor exhibits maxima and the plot of light emitted with time/temperature (glow curve) gives information on the physical parameters of the defects participating in luminescence process. In literature various techniques based on initial rise of the glow curve, peak shape methods, dependence of glow curve on heating rate and isothermal decay methods have been suggested for the determination of trap parameters. In this study, the trap parameters for TL peaks of α-Al2O3:C, CaSO4:Dy and BeO are determined using above methods. (author)
