Fabrication of ZnO-coated MgO nanorods by using ALD
Description
We have investigated the characteristics of ZnO-coated MgO nanorods synthesized by using a two-step process. We have employed X-ray diffraction, scanning electron microscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and photoluminescence (PL) spectroscopy to characterize the products with and without the ZnO coating. The deposition of ZnO by using an atomic layer deposition technique resulted in a MgO core/ZnO shell structure. The PL of the ZnO-coated product exhibited broad bands in the UV and the green regions, suggesting a dominant contribution of the emission from the ZnO outlayers.
