Observations of a circumstellar shell around the OH/IR star OH127.8-0.0

Description
High angular resolution measurements of the 1,612 MHz OH maser emission associated with the cool long period variable star OH127.8 - 0.0 are reported. The spatial distribution of the integrated OH emission in velocity intervals between -65.5 and -43 km s-1 shows two main regions of emission. This distribution is taken to support the suggestion that the OH lies in an expanding shell surrounding the star, the main peaks originating at the near or far sides of the shell along the line of sight where the maser column lengths may be greatest.
