Magnetic properties of solid solutions of the DySe-USe system
- 1. N.S. Kornakov Institute of General and Inorganic Chemistry
Description
This paper produces a continuous series of solid solutions of the DySe-USe series and studies the change in their magnetic properties. Samples were prepared by the vacuum thermal method from the elements at ca 1200 K. X-ray diffraction and microstructural analyses showed that dysprosium and uranium monoselenides form a continuous series of solid solutions that crystallize to a cubic NaCl-type structure. In the paramagnetic region the magnetic susceptibility follows the Curie-Weiss rule, deviation from which appears only close to the ferromagnetic Curie temperature. With increasing DySe concentration the ferromagnetic interaction in the solid solutions weakens
