Radio Tracer Study on the Adsorption of Monovalent ions on Stannic Silicate Ion Exchanger

  • 1. Dept. of Nucl. Fuel Tech, Hot Labs Center, Atomic Energy Authority, P.O. Box, 13759, Cairo (Egypt)

Description

Tracer equilibria measurements for the adsorption of cesium ions on stannic silicate ion exchanger were performed as a function of metal ion concentration (10-3-10-7M), temperature (298-335 0K) at pH 3.5. The kinetic of adsorption was found to follow first order rate law with respect to adsorptive concentration and agrees well for Freundlich adsorption isotherm. The standard thermodynamic parameters (ΔH0, ΔG0 and ΔS0) were evaluated. The adsorption process was found exothermic and irreversible in nature. (Authors)
