Isotope separation using plasma heating at the two-ion resonance

Description
Measurements of ionization rates of kiloamperes in pulsed laser-initiated vacuum arcs have been reported previously. Extraction of compensated high current ion streams from this discharge into a strong uniform magnetic field would open up the possibility of high flux isotope separation for many metals using externally driven rf plasma modes, such as the Buchsbaum two-ion resonance. Preliminary considerations are outlined for this proposal. (Auth.)
