Description
In the framework of research of efficient phosphors quantum cutting (QC) associated with strong absorption is an attractive process. Because of their wide band gap and the position of their f→d transitions, fluorides YF3:Tb3+ and YF3:Dy3+, Tb3+ are studied in the UV and VUV spectral regions. Emission and excitation spectra, fluorescence decay-times are presented. Theoretical prediction of QC has not been confirmed by the experimental study but it is shown that Dy3+→Tb3+ energy transfer occurs, opening possibilities for new green phosphors
