Reviewing RADPLAN - Radiation planning three-dimensional system for Brachytherapy

RADPLAN is a computational system that looks for preparing the radiation planning in brachytherapy. It provides a way of evaluating absorbed dose for a three-dimensional homogeneous representation of the brachytherapic planning. The system provides the tools that can help the cancer treatment in radiotherapy centers, calculating the spatial dose distribution for various radioactive sources implanted in an intracavitary or interstitial part of the human body. RADPLAN provide to the physician the visualization of the isodose curves projected over the tomographic images (CT), X-rays (RX) or Magnetic Resonance Image (MRI). The present paper addresses the multi functions of the code, as well as presents some examples of the information management in the brachytherapy system. (author)
