Numerical model of a plasma with a monoenergetic relativistic electron beam

Description

Numerical integration of the Vlasov equation in combination with the Poisson equation confirmers the possibility to convert the energy of low density relativistic electron beam into the energy of the narrow Langmuir wave package. The exponential increase of slight perturbation terminates due to the capture of beam electrons by a wave and the energy of field partially regains in the beam. Subsequent to it the beam leaves the resonance with the wave and the energy exchange with the field terminates. Single-mode (hydrodynamic) model of beam instability taking account of plasma nonlinearity is compared with the numerical experiment results. The essential deviation of curves of time dependence of field energy associated with the decomposition in the numerical model of oscillation primary spectrum is observed
