Ternary complexes of dioxouranium(VI) with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and some amino acids

The formation constants of the mixed ligand complexes of uranyl ion with 2-hydroxy-1-naphthaldehyde and amino acids like glycine, DL-α-alanine, valine, L-serine, DL-threonine and L-histidine have been studied by pH-titration method at 27degC and an ionic strength of 0.1M (KNO3) in 50per cent (v/v) methanol-water medium. The stabilities of binary and ternary complexes have been calculated and are explained on the basis of the basicities of the ligands, steric effects and π-interactions. (author)
