Neutron activation determination of gold in rocks, ores, and minerals using extraction with organic sulfides

Description

Four methods have been developed for the radiochemical determination of the small amounts of gold in rocks, ores and minerals by the extraction of gold from the sample with the aid of organic sulphides. These methods are as follows: a neutron-activation method of the gold determination by its quantitative extraction from the irradiated sample weighing 100-300 mg; a neutron-activation method of the gold determination with the use of substoichiometric extraction (a weighted amount of 100-300 mg); a neutron- activation method of a preliminary (prior to irradiation) gold extraction from the sample weighing 25-30 g; a method of the gold determination by means of isotopic dilution. The sensitivity of the gold determination of these methods are 1.10-12, 1.10-10, 1.10-10 and 5.10-1 g/g, respectively
