Description
Recently we showed that new consistent open string theories, including Liouville dynamics, exist at space-time dimensions 7 and 13 in the bosonic case, and 3 and 5 for the Neveu-Schwarz-Ramond string. In particular the latter theories are presumably space-time supersymmetric. In this paper the corresponding free closed string spectrum is investigated. Modular invariance is shown to hold at the new critical dimensions. (orig.)
