Design of a RF separator based beam-line for simultaneous electron beam delivery in ANURIB facility

Description

The upcoming ANURIB facility would house a 30/50 MeV, 2 mA electron linac (e-Linac) photo-fission driver for production of Rare Isotope Beams (RIB). Apart from the primary goal of RIB production, it has been envisaged to utilize the electron driver for the production of positrons, photons and neutrons for multidisciplinary research. The electron gun of the e-Linac would deliver pulsed bunches at intervals of 650 MHz whereas the superconducting niobium cavities in the Injector and Accelerator Cryomodules will be operating at 1.3 GHz. Simultaneous delivery of electrons to RIB targets and positron/neutron production stations can be achieved by diverting the alternate electron bunches to the adjacent caves. This will be achieved using a beam spreader line consisting of RF Separator cavity resonating at half of pulsed electron beam interval i.e 325 MHz followed by septum magnets to divert the alternate bunches to adjacent caves. Beam dynamics study of such spreader beam line along with preliminary design of RF separator cavity and magnets have been carried out and will be presented. (author)
