CT findings of radiation lung injury. Temporal alteration

  • 1. Hirosaki Univ., School of Health Sciences, Hirosaki, Aomori (Japan)

Description

We analyzed the temporal alteration of the radiation-induced lung damage according to the type of CT findings. The results showed that radiation induced lung damage develops from the radiologically non-detectable stage to the stage of the homogenous ground-glass opacity that uniformly involves the irradiated lung, the patchy consolidation that is contained within the irradiated lung but does not conform to its shape or discrete consolidation that conforms to the shape of the radiation field but does not uniformly involve the irradiated lung parenchyma, and finally into the stage of radiation fibrosis.
