Precise analysis of high-energy p-p diffractive elastic scattering

Description
Explicit expressions for the p-p elastic and total cross sections are derived from an optical model with a high accuracy of about 0.04 mb in the energy interval 7< or approx.√s< or approx.62.5 GeV. Data on diffractive scattering are analyzed to reveal and eliminate scale errors. Predictions in the multi-TeV energy range are also reported. (orig.)
