What was the cause of primary amenorrhea?

  • 1. 2. detska klinika LF UK a DFNsP, Bratislava (Slovakia)

Description

We report a case of almost 16 years old girl with headache, primary amenorrhea and galactorrhoea. High levels of prolactin were present, MRI scan revealed pituitary micro adenoma – prolactinoma. Prolactinomas are rare pituitary adenomas in children. Micro adenomas are seen more often among girls, predominantly with hormone symptomatology. The boys are more likely to develop macroadenomas. The aim of treatment with dopamine agonists is to decrease tumor size and restore gonadal function. (author)
