Description
We have grown crystals of BaCuGd2O5 and Ba2Cu3GdO/sub 7-//sub x/ and determined their structures by single-crystal x-ray diffraction. Green and black BaCuGd2O5 are roughly identical. In the refinement of Ba2Cu3GdO/sub 7-//sub x/ a value of x = 0.5 is obtained. The existence of oxygen vacancies is compatible with an incommensurable system and also with high-order superstructures
