Description

Malignant melanoma of the choroid is often associated with a large retinal detachment which may make it difficult to assess the precise size of the tumour, although it can be appreciated that a tumour is present. A case is described where this difficulty was experienced and where assistance was obtained in determining the edge of the tumour by use of magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) scanning and study of the T2 map. As a result the patient was treated with I125 rather than by enucleation. (author)
