Description

Radiation pneumonitis (RP), a morbid complication of thoracic radiotherapy compromises the treatment intensity resulting in poorer clinical outcomes of thoracic malignancies. Therapeutic options for RP are limited; steroids are commonly used for long durations (4 - 6 months) with its antecedent complications. Present study demonstrated that 3'-diselenodipropionic acid (DSePA) not only prevents but also delays the onset and in some cases, reverses the severity of RP in mouse models by suppressing the NF-kB/IL-17jG-CSF/neutrophil axis.
