During the last few years, a multi-crucible core-catcher concept proposed for implementation in new Light Water Reactor (LWR) containments has been studied at the CEA/DRN. This paper summarises the final results of R ampersand D performed with a view to demonstrate the feasibility of the concept and its adequacy for reactor application. 19 refs., 11 figs
