Development of process design and package for a heavy water plant based on H2S-H2O process (Preprint No. PD-9)

This paper deals with the development of process package which forms the basis for carrying out the detailed engineering and procurement, followed by erection and commissioning, particularly for heavy water plants based on H2S-H2O exchange process. The process package is a document which has all the relevant information that an engineer would require for developing the detailed engineering. The process package includes primarily piping and instrumentation (P and I) diagram, process data sheets of equipment like pumps, heat exchangers, towers internals etc., data sheets pertaining to all the instruments and the line list. The process package also includes system details of the major utilities like steam, cooling water, chilled water etc. Methodology followed for development of the process package is described .
