Water activity and isobaric potentials of compound formation in CsBr-CdBr2-H2O and CsI-CdI2-H2O systems at 25 deg

Description

The activity of water has been investigated throughout the range of concentrations of ternary solutions, and isobaric potentials of formation of solid complex compounds in the CsBr-CdBr2-H2O and CsI-CdI2-H2O systems have been calculated. A strong incurvation of isoactivates (isopotentials) of water in the systems is indicative of an intensive complexing between the salt components in the solution. The compositions of the resultant phases were determined during the study of the isotherm of solubility of the systems at 25 deg C. The variations of the isobaric potential on formation of CsCl x CdCl2, CsBr x CdBr2, CsI x CdI2 xH2O are respectively equal to-8.99, -6.74 and -3.50 kcal/mole. The isobaric potential variation of formation of solid complexes increases in the order of I < Br < Cl
