Facility for nondestructive determination of bulk density and cube strength of concrete blocks

Description

Bulk density is determined using a radiometric method based on the degree of attenuation of primary gamma radiation during its passage through the material being measured. The degree of attenuation is proportional to the overall weight of the material including water contained in it. Correction measurement of specific mixture content is based on the detection of thermal neutrons produced by interaction of fast neutrons and the atomic nuclei of the material being measured. Bulk density for the anhydrous form of the material is determined after the values of both radiometric measurements have been processed. The sclerometric method is used for determining strength. The description is presented of a device for nondestructive determination of both quantities. (Z.S.)
