In this chapter, the occurrence of plutonium in soils is considered. Besides, the chemistry and mobility and transport of plutonium is discussed. An extensive bibliography on the subject is added. The few data available show that soluble plutonium is adsorbed rapidly, Pu-238 having a rate different from Pu-239. (G.J.P.)
