Rapid equipment developments called for a complete revision of the first edition of this textbook: The chapters on orthopantomography, affections of the sinus, mandibular joint disease, and legal provisions for radiation protection have been brought up to date. Modern imaging techniques have been incorporated, such as computed tomography or magnetic resonance imaging. The image collection for diagnostic training has been extended by several, significant examples. The book presents a systematic summary of all aspects in dental and maximallofacial radiology, including a discussion of the new, amended version of the X-ray Ordinance of the FRG as of January 1, 1988, and the related quality assurance requirements. Der rasche technische Fortschritt hat eine tiefgreifende Ueberarbeitung der 1. Auflage erforderlich gemacht: Die Kapitel ueber Orthopantomographie, Sinus-Affektionen, Kiefergelenkserkrankungen und Strahlenschutzgesetzgebung wurden dem neuesten Stand angepasst. Moderne bildgebende Verfahren wie Computer- und Kernspintomographie wurden in den Text integriert und der diagnostische Teil um Bildkasuistiken erweitert. Die neue Roentgenverordnung, in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland gueltig seit dem 1.1.1988, ist mit allen Massnahmen der Qualitaetskontrolle besprochen.
