Description
This paper discusses a number of the design analyses and assessments that were performed. The design assessments are grouped into the following 3 categories: thermal considerations; structural integrity considerations; and, compatibility with other components. The assessments such as bundle strength, sheath collapse, end flux peaking, circumferential ridging, bundle droop etc., show that the performance of the CANFLEX bundle will be similar to or better than the performance of the 37-element bundle.
