Putting a utility's design change program in TOPFORM

Creators

Description

Duke Power Co. is unique among investor-owned electric utilities in that it designs and builds its generating stations. It has used this do-it-yourself approach in the completion of seven nuclear units, which provide over half of the company's net generation. Design changes to these operating nuclear units are handled in house, and the utility recently implemented a set of enhancements called TOPFORM. This paper describes the design change process enhancements made by Duke's design engineering department
