The critical behaviour of the Potts model in a penalizing external field
Description
We performed a high statistics numerical simulation of the three state Potts model in presence of an external field that penalizes one of the possible states. The value of the thermal critical exponent, that we have evaluated by means of the finite size real space renormalization group (FSRSRG) technique, indicates that such a model has a non-trivial critical behaviour. For validation purposes results concerning both (standard) Potts and Ising models are also presented. (orig.)
