Interstellar magnetic field
Description
Direct measurements of the interstellar magnetic field can be made only by measuring its effects on the polarization of radiation. The important effects relevant to the interstellar field are summarized. Measurements of the local field, the field on the galactic scale, the field in clouds and the field in very dense clouds are reviewed. 3 figs., 118 refs
