Description

Nigeria is a well known oil producing nation. A large part of the country's coastal regions and beyond have experienced very intensive petroleum and gas exploration/ exploitation activities. A lot money is involved in all these activities, and so do persistent debates, outbursts of emotion, strikes and riots, even at local or national levels. This work studies the petroleum activities in Nigeria, (the benefits) effects, as well as the hazards imposed by the exploration and exploitation processes on the environment, and suggests probable methods of hazard control and mitigation
