Description
In this paper, the authors review the key ingredients in the geometrical branching model for the description of multiparticle production in hadron-hadron and hadron-nucleus collisions. The energy range relevant to the content of this review is for sq. roots < 100 GeV in hh collisions and the corresponding beam energy in hA collisions. hard scattering of partons at higher energies at the colliders in not considered. Thus our attention here is focused on soft processes. The model is framed in the eikonal formalism that describes the geometrical properties of hadrons; then at each impact parameter Furry branching is the stochastic process that describes the soft interactions among many partons leading toward hadronization. These concepts are common in hh and hA collisions, so the model provides a universal basis for both types of collisions. It also facilitates a treatment of the subsequent interactions in the nucleus after the incident hadron is broken by the first collision with a nucleon. All results agree well with the experimental data
