A computationally efficient thermal radiation transport model for the GASFLOW code
Description
A thermal radiation transport model is developed for the GASFLOW code. This methodology provides a compromise between computational accuracy and efficiency. For the one- and two-dimensional benchmark test problems, we demonstrate that the model is generally accurate within 20% error with most results accurate to less than 5% error. We gain computational efficiency such that when the radiation model is used there is less than 40% increase penalty in CPU time. For both high temperature superheated steam sources and hydrogen sources with combustion, it is shown that structural components are under increased thermal loads while the containment gas phase results in subsequently lower temperatures and pressures. Fuer den GASFLOW-Code wird ein Waermestrahlungs-Transportmodell entwickelt. Dabei muss ein Kompromiss eingegangen werden zwischen rechnerischer Genauigkeit und Effizienz.
