Summary of the workshop on X-ray and gamma ray burst sources

Creators

  • 1. Joint Institute for Laboratory Astrophysics, Boulder, CO

Description

New contributions dealing with the relationship between the X-ray burst sources and the gamma ray burst sources are summarized. The different types of X-ray and gamma ray burst sources are described along with their parameters, including the 'rapid burster' X-ray source and the gamma ray burst of Mar. 5, 1979 in the Large Magellanic Cloud. The theoretical interpretation of type I X-ray bursts and of gamma ray bursts is detailed, and suggestions for further research in the gamma ray burst area are made
