Pellet injection
Description
This is a summary of a three-day meeting on pellet injection results and the effect of pellet injection on plasma confinement. In particular, the following topics are discussed (i) particle fuelling by pellet injection, (ii) compatibility with improved confinement, (iii) particle fuelling aspects of steady-state operation of tokamak fusion reactors, (iv) the excitation or suppression of MHD instabilities by pellet injection, either alone or in combination of auxiliary heating, (v) present efforts to improve the reliability, refine the techniques, and extend the pulse lengths of conventional pellet injectors, (vi) the development of high-speed injectors, (vii) tritium injector research, and (viii) long-pulse and steady-state pellet fuelling sources
