Electron-microscopic examination of the pattern of lanthanum hexaboride with nickel interaction

Description

The structure and fracture pattern of lanthanum hexaboride alloys with 0.3-2.a % of nickel were studied by electron-microscopy and X-ray microanalysis. Lanthanum hexaboride-nickel alloys are found to isolate at the grain boundaries the matrix phase of boride (LaNi12B6, LaB4 and Ni3B) phases. It is shown that the interparticle contact strength of the matrix phase for LaB6 alloys with nickel is higher than for individual lanthanum hexaboride
