Investigation of impurity distribution in polycrystalline samples of high-purity metals, by means of a lamma-1000 mass spectrometer
- 1. Institute of Chemistry, Academy of Sciences, Gor'kii
Description
This paper reports on an investigation of the impurity distribution in polycrstalline high-purity substances, using a LAMMA-1000 laser microprobe mass analyzer, with the aim of determining the presence, degree, and character of impurity inhomogeneities and determining their possible effects on the deviation of results obtained in determinations of the mean composition of samples. A statistically significant segregation at the grain boundaries was observed in Na, Si, and Fe in the erbium sample and Mo in the magnesium sample
