Requirements of the general public on up-to-date reporting on environmental radioactivity

In Germany reports on environmental radioactivity have a history of 40 years. Today the public is interested in: immediate and up-to-date information, easily accessible information, comprehensive information, regional differentiation. In cooperation with the Federal Ministry For Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) the Federal Office For Radiation Protection (BfS) intends to meet these requirements with the help of organisational and technical means. Different interests of different groups of the population, such as politicians, scientists, concerned members of the public and the media have to be considered. This presentation is intended to line out the future development of the reporting on environmental radioactivity, performed by the BfS. (orig.)
