Shell-model calculations with density dependent interactions

  • 1. Dept. de Fisica, Facultad de Ciencias, Univ. de Salamanca, 37008 Salamanca (Spain)

Description

The possibility of using the same interaction in Hartree-Fock (HF) and shell-model calculations is investigated in this work. The authors choose a two-body density dependent interaction of the Skyme type appropriate for HF calculations, and perform shell-model calculations for light nuclei, in the A = 4--16 region. It is found that this force gives an excellent description of energy spectra and electromagnetic properties, in addition to its good description of nuclear bulk properties. It should be stressed that no additional parameters are involved in this calculation. The two-body matrix elements and the single-particle energies are all derived from the same two-body interaction. Harmonic oscillator wave functions are used, but the size parameter is also derived from the two-body force, by minimization of the binding energy for each nucleus
