System for automated diagnosis of reactor-coolant pumps
Description
The Reactor-Coolant Pump Monitoring and Diagnostic System will combine seal and rotating machinery analyses to provide continuous, comprehensive, and unattended watch over the four reactor coolant pumps at Davis-Besse. Initial demonstration of the system will provide machine protection, and investigate the opportunity for incipient failure detection. The longer range benefit will be a better understanding of the mechanisms behind seal deterioration which can be drawn upon to reduce or eliminate future seal failures
