Vanadium atom level excitation by slow electrons

Description

The excitation of the vanadium atom 4G0-, 4H0- and 4I0-levels by electron-atom collisions is studied through the methods of extended crossing beams and optical spectroscopy. The complete excitation cross sections for these levels by the electron energy of 30 eV are determined. The highest values of the cross sections (about 2 x 10 -16 cm2) correspond to the 4F(1P)x 4Gj0 levels. The experimental values of the cross sections for all the quartet and sextet levels systematically exceed by 1.5-2 times the theoretical ones

Abstract (Russian)

Методами протяженных пересекающихся пучков и оптической спектроскопии исследовано возбуждение 4G0-, 4H0- и 4I0-уровней атома ванадия при электрон-атомных столкновениях. Определены полные сечения возбуждения для этих уровней при энергии электронов 30 эВ. Наибольшие значения сечений (около 2 х 10-16 см2) соответствуют уровням 4F(1P)x 4Gj0. Для всех квартетных и секстетных уровней экспериментальные значения сечений систематически превышают теоретические в 1,5-2 раза
