Unconnected gas supply study : evaluation of unconnected reserves in British Columbia - Phase Two

An assessment of the gas supply in unconnected gas pools in the Western Canada Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) was conducted. The reserves, deliverability and economic viability of the gas pools were evaluated. Phase One of the study evaluated the unconnected reserves in Alberta. Phase Two of the study is devoted to the evaluation of the 435 unconnected gas reserves in the British Columbia portion of the basin. Two major concerns were addressed: (1) that the volumetric estimates of the gas reserves for unconnected pools may have been overstated, and (2) that a portion of this gas supply may not be economic to bring to market. Geological, engineering and economic parameters were considered in the analysis. The results of the study suggest that the currently unconnected marketable gas reserves estimate for British Columbia should be reduced by 42 per cent because of geological and engineering factors. 8 tabs., 13 figs
