Description

Non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques, namely, liquid-dye penetrant, magnetic particle, radiography, ultrasonic and eddy current and also the equipment and materials required for their application are described in detail. Requirements according to Nuclear Code ASME Section III regarding acceptance levels of defects for materials and welded joints are stated. Their modifications by the Power Projects Engineering Division of the Department of Atomic Energy, India, are mentioned. Personnel qualifications required for application of these techniques are given. Applications of the above-mentioned NDT techniques for testing of nuclear components, particularly those fabricated in India, have been noted. (M.G.B.)
