Establishment and Operation of User Facilities

Description

The demand survey on user facilities was carried out through managers of the PEFP's application projects. They replied to the survey suggesting beam specifications and irradiation conditions which they want to be applied for their pilot studies of proton beam utilization. Other results of the survey include required accelerator type, list of ions and energy levels, beam utilization technology and beam irradiation technology for proton beam users in various beam service facilities at home and abroad. Key technologies which are needed to construct the 20MeV beamline have been achieved by literature survey. Especially, fundamental investigation for energy control has been completed and a simulation with the TRIM Code has been performed for some materials. And a study for a uniform irradiation method has been accomplished and a design of a detecting system has also been performed. The 6MeV proton beam test facility which has been constructed by modifying a previous beamline has been developed. It will be attached to the 3MV tandem accelerator of SNU. The stage of the 6MeV test facility has been designed to be applicable to both raster beam scanning and spiral beam scanning systems among various methods of uniform irradiation
