Spectroscopic determinations from resonance spin-flip
Description
Proton spin-flip in ¹²C(p, p₁)¹²C(2⁺, 4.44 MeV) has been measured in the region of the narrow 3/2⁻ resonance near 8.18 MeV proton energy. Large interference is observed between the resonant and background spin-flip. The configuration of the resonant state in terms of a proton coupled to the 2⁺ level of ¹²C was obtained from a model-independent analysis. The data are sufficient to allow a self-consistent test of the theoretical formulation.
